Patriots get busy locking up three of their draft picks

The Patriots announced Friday that they agreed to contract terms with three of their 2022 draft selections.

Defensive back Marcus Jones, a third-round pick, running back Kevin Harris and defensive lineman Sam Roberts, both sixth-round picks, are officially in the fold.

All three have been in Foxboro participating in the team’s rookie camp, which runs through Sunday.

Terms of the rookie deals were not disclosed.

Jones, the 2021 Paul Horning Award winner as the nation’s most versatile player, could help the Patriots in all three phases of the game. At the very least, the 5-foot-8 dynamo should see time as a returner.

Harris, meanwhile, will compete to provide depth in the running back room. At South Carolina, he had eight 100-yard rushing games, and two 200-yard games.

As for Roberts, the Cliff Harris Award winner, as the best defensive player in NCAA Division II, will also vie to make the 53-man roster.

In other news, rookie free agent offensive lineman Liam Shanahan, who played at Harvard and hails from Marlboro, was released.
